East Hall Middle teacher faces charges in April sexual assault case

The Hall County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Sugar Hill man after he allegedly sexually assaulted an adult female in the spring.
 
Mark Eric Fowler, 32, faces aggravated sexual battery and sexual battery in the case, according to the Hall County Sheriff's Office. Fowler reportedly "intentionally and without consent, forcibly placed his hand in the adult female victim's pants and underwear and then committed the offense of aggravated sexual battery."
 
Hall County Schools spokesman Stan Lewis confirmed that Fowler worked for the school system. "The case does not involve any students whatsoever," he said. "As a district we take this matter very seriously, and we're waiting for all the information to come in as the Hall County Sheriff's Department does it's investigation, and it will be addressed appropriately by personnel."
 
Lewis said as the investigation continues, Fowler is still employed with the school.
 
Fowler remained in the Hall County Jail without bond at last report Monday. He was arrested at his residence on Friday and warrants were obtained Thursday, according to the Sheriff's Office; the initial incident occurred the evening of Saturday, April 4 in the 3900 block of P Davison Road. The victim told authorities she and Fowler were meeting to discuss a legitimate business arrangement.
 
The victim escaped by saying she needed to use the restroom and called a friend, who came to get her. The Sheriff's Office said the victim left with the friend and contacted the Sheriff's Office.
