By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

There is a new presiding judge for juvenile courts in Hall and Dawson counties.

The Northeastern Judicial Circuit announced Tuesday that Judge Alison Toller has requested to step down from her administrative duties as Presiding Juvenile Court Judge for the circuit. She is preparing to assume the role of President of the Georgia Council of Juvenile Court Judges.

The Superior Court Judges for the circuit have designated Judge Amanda Dean as the new Presiding Juvenile Court Judge, effective Tuesday.

"Judge Toller has done a tremendous job in establishing the circuit's Juvenile Court as a state leader in best practices for child welfare," a statement from the circuit said. "Judge Toller will continue to serve as a Juvenile Court Judge within the circuit and preside over Hall County Family Treatment Court in addition to state-wide leadership roles in the CJCJ and the Council of Accountability Court Judges."

Chief Superior Court Judge Jason J. Deal also commended the work Judge Toller has done and praised Judge Dean after her appointment.

"The Superior Court Judges are grateful for the dedicated services of Judge Toller during her time presiding over Juvenile Court," Deal said. "Judge Dean's more than twenty years of experience working in juvenile courts throughout North Georgia make her the right choice to take up the mantle as the next Presiding Juvenile Court Judge of the Northeastern Judicial Circuit."
