Elderly Commerce man found safe in Central Georgia

An elderly Commerce man who went missing from his home Wednesday night was found safe early Friday morning in Central Georgia.

The Commerce Police Department, in a 1:34 a.m. post on its Facebook page, said William Whitted was found safe in Twiggs County. They released no other details. 

Original story posted Thursday, May 20 at 7 a.m.:

The Commerce Police Department is asking for help from the public as officers search for a 90-year-old man who wandered away from his home around 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 20.

William Witted is 90 years old and has dementia, according to authorities.

Whitted is 5'7" and weighs 108 lbs. He is balding with some white hair. He was last seen wearing blue pants and a long-sleeved jacket. He is driving a blue Jeep Liberty with a veteran's license tag. 

Anyone who sees Whitted is asked to call 911 or Jackson County dispatch at 706-367-1911.
