Longtime banker Terry Evans has joined Peach State Bank & Trust as the bank’s executive vice president.
Evans, who graduated from Gainesville High School, got his start in banking in 1974 at the former Citizens Bank of Gainesville. At Citizens, he eventually rose to assistant vice president and branch manager.
“Terry’s career in banking spans all the way from sweeping floors at a local branch bank as a high school student to becoming the leader of several respected banks in north Georgia,” said Ron Quinn, the president of Peach State Bank, said in a news release. “We are fortunate to have such experience and a respected name in banking return to his hometown roots and join our team.”
In 1985, after a stint as an insurance agent, Evans returned to banking as commercial vice president of First National Bank of Elberton. He later served as president and CEO of Gwinnett National Bank in Duluth. He has helped start two banks – First National Bank of Gwinnett in 2000 and Independence Bank of Georgia in 2008, where he served as organizing director as well as president and CEO.
Now a resident of Gainesville, Evans is a deacon at Lakewood Baptist Church. He is a member of the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Advisory Group in Braselton and the board of directors for the Braselton Community Improvement District. He also is a past director of the Georgia Bankers Association.
