GBI investigates Fannin County tax commissioner on forgery charge

By AccessWDUN Staff

Fannin County Tax Commissioner Shirley Sosebee was arrested last week on a first degree forgery charge, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

A press statement from the GBI said Sosebee, 63, of Blue Ridge was arrested Thursday, March 5 and booked into the Fannin County Detention Center under a $10,000 bond.

The GBI began its investigation into Sosebee on Feb. 27, 2020 at the request of the Fannin County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation began after authorities with the sheriff's office received a complaint that Sosebee had forged a victim's signature on a deed to transfer title in order to obtain a piece of property in Fannin County for her family.

Sosebee faces charges of forgery in the first degree and violation of oath by a public officer.

The investigation into the alleged crime is ongoing.
