Coronavirus travel protocol for Gainesville schools announced

As the Gainesville School System continues to monitor developments surrounding the Coronavirus, school officials have updated protocols for students and staff and their families.

With an eye toward ensuring "safety" for all involved, the system now has in place a list of precautions that are effective immediately and concern travel by anyone having a connection to the school system.

PARENTS AND FAMILIES

• Parents of current or new students who have traveled outside the United States in the past 14 days must call their child’s school for guidance regarding COVID-19.

• Parents should call prior to their child coming to school or attending any school activity, before, during, or after school hours.

• This also applies to students with family members or individuals living in the home who have traveled outside the U.S. in the past 14 days.

EMPLOYEES

• Employees who have traveled outside the United States in the past 14 days should contact their principal or direct supervisor prior to coming to work or to any campus activity.

• This also applies to employees with family members or individuals living in the home who have traveled outside the country in the past 14 days.
