A 71-year-old Clayton man, who was out riding his bicycle in Rabun County, was struck and killed by a motorist after he failed to stop at a stop sign.
Terry H. Tuck was heading west on Rickman Airfield Road around 1 p.m. Monday afternoon when he traveled into the northbound lanes of the highway according to Georgia State Patrol Assistant Post Commander SGT. C.J. Coffee.
"A bicycle driven by Terry H.Tuck was traveling west on Rickman Airfield Road," Coffee said. "Tuck failed to stop at the stop sign and traveled into the northbound lanes of GA 15."
Moments later, a 2004 Jeep Cherokee driven by 55-year-old Rebecca Tally of Tiger, who was traveling north on GA 15, hit Tuck from behind.
"The front of the Jeep struck the rear of the bicycle," he said. "The area of impact was in the left northbound lane GA 15."
Tuck passed away at the scene due to his sustained injuries according to Coffee - Tally received minor injuries and was transported to Mountain Lake Medical Center.
It's not known at this time if any charges will be taken. The case remains under investigation by the GSP.
