A house fire with fatal results is under investigation with the Banks County Coroner's Office, Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office and Banks Fire Department officials Friday.
Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols says their crews were still out early Friday morning at the scene of a single family home along the 600 block of Russ Rumsey Road after receiving the call just after 11:35 p.m. Thursday night for the structure fire with a reported entrapment. Upon arrival, Banks County crews began to attack the well involved interior fire of the home, while searching for one male resident of the home.
Nichols' press release Friday says the fire was brought under control a short time later, and a male victim in his late-sities was found inside the structure, while no other family members were at home during the time of the fire. The name of the victim has not been released at the time of this publication.
Officials say the home is a total loss, while the cause for the fire and the victim's death remain under investgation at this time through the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office, Banks County Fire Department and the Banks County Coroner's Office, with assistance from Jackson County emergency service crews.
