By AccessWDUN Staff
UPDATE: An update on Thursday to the original social media post said Hall County firefighter Sgt. Jonathan Barton has been cleared by his cardiologist and is continuing to improve.

At last report, the Hall County firefighter who suffered a medical emergency during a training exercise is on his way to a full recovery.
Barton, 38, suffered a serious heart attack last Tuesday at the county training facility on Allen Creek Road.
According to a Facebook post from Hall County Fire Services on Thursday, doctors are still monitoring his kidney function and are prepared for additional dialysis if needed.

"He is up and walking regularly to the nurse's station," the post reads. "Jonathan and Jessica are both so appreciative of everyone who has supported them and lifted them up over the last week but still respectfully asks to limit visitors to allow him time to rest and recover."

Barton went into cardiac arrest as he was participating in physical training and conditioning exercises with a class of fire services recruits.
