COMMERCE — Shad Dabney scored 19 of his 24 points in the second half to lead the Riverside boys' 57-53 comeback win over Athens Christian in the semifinals of the Region 8-A tournament at Commerce High School.
Dabney scored his 1,000th career point and helped secure the Eagles' spot in the championship game on Saturday against Towns County. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m. at Commerce.
Bryce Klacynski's play also was key for the Eagles, scoring 9 of his 17 points in the second half, including 5-of-6 from the foul line.
The Eagles (14-11, Region 8-A No. 4 seed) found themselves down 28-21 at the half but came out ready to ball in the third quarter. Dabney scored 9 points in the quarter to spark the Eagles' charge to the lead, 38-34.
Riverside answered Athens Christian point-for-point in the final quarter to seal the win.
