COMMERCE — Joelle Snyder and Elise Roark combined for 41 points to lead the Lakeview girls basketball team past Commerce, 79-50, in the second round of the Region 8-A tournament on Tuesday at Commerce High School.
Joelle Snyder turned in a game-high 23 points, while Roark scored a career-high 18 points against the Tigers. The Lady Lions had four players in double figures.
Maddy Towles poured in 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, and Jackie Allen came one rebound shy of a triple-double performance. She hit 14 points, dished out 10 assists and snagged 9 boards. Eliza Snyder finished with 6 points and 10 rebounds.
The Lady Lions catapulted to a 26-7 first-quarter lead and upped it 46-18 at the half. They continued their charge in the third quarter, taking a 67-34 advantage.
Lakeview (19-7, Region 8-A No. 2 seed) will play No. 3 seed Tallulah Falls on Friday in the semifinals at Commerce. Tip is set for 4 p.m.

The Indians held off an Athens Academy third-quarter charge to advance to the Region 8-A semifinals on Wednesday at Commerce High School.
Kolby Moss passed the Indians with a game-high 23 points, and Collin Crowder chipped in 12.
Towns (17-7, Region 8-A No. 2 seed) led 32-21 at the half, but the Spartans outshot the Indians 20-11 to cut the lead, 43-41 at the end of the third quarter. The Indians defense smothered Athens Academy in the final 8 minutes, holding them to just four points.
Towns will play No. 6 seed Lakeview on Friday at Commerce. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
