Basketball: Two more area teams look to advance in 2nd round

Six northeast Georgia area boys and girls teams advanced to the quarterfinal round in their respective classifications Wednesday night. Two more area teams will get their chance on Thursday.

Eight area teams entered as region champions -- the Buford boys and girls in 8-5A, the Jefferson boys and girls in 8-3A, the North Hall girls in 7-3A, the Union County girls and Banks County boys in 8-2A, the Riverside Military boys in 8-A. All but Riverside, which lost to North Cobb Christian, and Banks County, which plays on Thursday, moved on with wins.

Second-round action continues on Thursday with the final two teams looking to move on as well.
