Boys basketball: Banks County gets road win over Chestatee

GAINESVILLE — Banks County used a huge second quarter to pull away for an eventual 61-47 win over Chestatee Monday night at the Lynn Cottrell Center.

The Leopards opened the game with an 18-13 first quarter but outscored the War Eagles 18-4 in the second quarter for a 36-17 halftime lead. Chestatee pulled within 43-34 with a big third quarter push but Banks County pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Banks County got 18 points and 9 rebounds from Bradley Lewis in just 20 minutes of work to lead the way. Pierce Martin had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists, Clay Gosnell had 12 points and 4 assists, and Dakota Orr added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Leopards.

Chestatee was paced by Ethan Popham's 19 points, 10 coming in the third quarter and 14 in the second half. Josh Bull had 10 points and Peyton Phillips 9 points for the War Eagles.
