DAHLONEGA — Lumpkin County held off a late North Hall charge to pick up 61-53 Region 7-3A win over North Hall Friday at home.

The Trojans and Indians were locked into a back and forth affair all night. After the first quarter ended 20-20, Lumpkin (5-2, 1-1 Region 7-3A) outscored North Hall 14-11 in the second quarter to take a slim 34-31 lead into the half.

The Trojans responded with a 7-0 run to start the 3rd quarter and take a four-point lead. The Indians fired right back ending the quarter on an 11-6 run to take a 45-44 lead into the 4th quarter.

North Hall climbed back in front of Lumpkin 52-51 before the Indians closed the game on a 10-1 run for the final margin of victory.

Jones Harris led the way for Lumpkin with 31 points. Chandler Pulley added 15, including 2 big 3s during the final 10-1 run. Gus Faulkner added a double-double with 12 points, 10 assists and 7 rebounds.

North Hall was led by Robert Terry with 19 points. Clark Howell chipped in 8 points.

Lumpkin is back in action Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in the Kelly King Holiday Classic at Lumpkin County High School.

Luke Blackburn's 3-pointer with seconds left lifted the Red Elephants (6-4) past Banks County (5-4) on Friday in Homer.

The Leopards, behind the hot-hand of Pierce Martin, who finished with a game-high 33 points, lead most of the game and were up 59-50 heading into the final quarter.

But Gainesville turned the jets on in the fourth quarter with the help of Jimmie Jackson. Jackson scored 13 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead the furious comeback. The Red Elephants outpaced Banks County 27-17 in the final quarter in the comeback win.

Robert Reisman finished with 16 points, and Eli Pitts added 13.

Garrett Presley scored 13, and Clay Gosnell had 10 points for the Leopards.

The War Eagles (2-5,1-0 Region 8-4A) held off a second-half run by the Vikings (2-5, 0-1 Region 8-4A) to earn their first region win on Friday.

Hugh Pruitt poured in 20 points to lead Chestatee, including 9 points in the second quarter to push the lead to 36-28 at the half. Peyton Phillips, who finished with 12 points -- all behind the 3-point line -- hit three 3s in the second quarter.

Christian Torres led the Vikings with 23 points. Colton Wilbanks added 10 for the War Eagles.

The War Eagles will play host to Banks County on Monday. East Hall will play Banks County at home on Saturday.
