Stew & Que in downtown Baldwin reopened for business today, a week after a vehicle that was parking entered the building.

A Demorest woman complained of injuries after a vehicle crashed through the front wall of the Baldwin restaurant where she was working Friday afternoon.
Leigha Starr Mans, 27, of Demorest was working inside Stew & Que on Willingham Avenue when a 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer, driven by 77-year-old Howard Clifford Harris of Commerce, entered the building about 1:38 p.m., according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Harris’s vehicle was traveling north in the parking lot of Stew & Que Restaurant and was pulling into a parking stall when the accident occurred, according to GSP.
“The driver thought he put the vehicle in park, and then accidentally pressed the accelerator,” the GSP report states. “The vehicle abruptly traveled forward, climbing over the curb. The front of the vehicle then struck the front wall of the restaurant and broke through the glass windows and brick wall. The falling debris struck the restaurant employee.”
The vehicle came to rest partially inside the restaurant.
Harris and his two passengers, 75-year-old Brenda Finley of Homer and 80-year-old Mary Slaton of Whitehouse, Texas, escaped injury, according to GSP.
Harris received a warning from GSP for driver to exercise due care.
