Suwanee police name suspects in deadly Walmart hit and run

By B.J. Williams

Two teenagers have been named as suspects in the death of a pedestrian in a Walmart shopping center parking lot in Suwanee last weekend.

Lt. Robert Thompson identified the suspects as Keytavius "Tay" Arice Lowman, 18, and Jafar D. "ManMan" Hunter, Jr., 15, both of Decatur. Warrants for felony murder and felony shoplifting have been issued for both suspects. Thompson said Hunter is being charged as an adult in the case and that is why his identity has been publicized.

Thompson said both Lowman and Hunter remain at large.

"The suspects are also known as 'water boys' that frequent the Memorial Drive/Columbia Drive area," Thompson wrote in a press statement. "Arrest warrants have been turned over to the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Task Force."

Both teenagers are accused of running over Christian Gutierrez, 42, of Sugar Hill in the parking lot of a Walmart store on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road. Thompson said they were fleeing from the store in a U Haul truck after store employees caught them stealing electronics. After the truck hit Gutierrez, the victim was dragged for a distance. He died at the scene.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of either suspect is asked to call the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Tip Line at 770-619-7838.
