Braselton husband and wife accused in Hall County entering auto cases

By B.J. Williams

A husband and wife from Braselton have been arrested in connection with a series of entering auto cases that happened earlier this month in northwest Hall County.

According to Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth, Christopher Michael McCune, 34, and Candra Marie McCune, 22, were arrested Monday afternoon.

"Each is charged 14 times with entering an automobile to commit a theft and eight times with financial transaction card theft," Booth said in a press statement. "Both are also each charged with second-degree burglary."

The McCunes reportedly committed the series of crimes on Oct. 11 at locations just off Chestatee Road. They stole items including credit/debit cards, gift cards, three firearms and sunglasses from vehicles on Talking Leaves Trail and Phoenix Cove Drive. The couple had reportedly been staying in their camper in the Bolding Mill area in close proximity to the locations where the crimes were committed.

"In all, the Sheriff's Office received 11 reports of entering autos in the area," Booth said. "The burglary charges relate to the couple also entering a garage and taking lawn equipment."

Booth said investigators were able to identify the two suspects through surveillance video from two businesses where they tried to use the stolen financial transaction cards.

In addition, Booth said detectives recognized the McCunes from a Sunday, Oct. 4, arrest in an entering auto case on Windrush Drive in the Buford area. He said the Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating to determine if the suspects can be connected to crimes in Gwinnett County.
