DAHLONEGA — Maddie Ananthasane shot a 4-under 68 in the second round of the day as the University of North Georgia women's golf team climbed two spots in the second 18 holes Monday to sit in third place in the LeeAnn Noble Memorial at Achasta Golf Club.

Ananthasane's 68 is good for a tie for second all-time for an individual 18-hole round, tying Megan Sabol's -4 score at the 2017 Patsy Rendleman Invitational. The freshman finished the second round of the day with five birdies in her last six holes, including each of the final four. Her 36-hole score of 4-under 140 is good for a tie for second place, one shot back of the individual lead.

Megan Sabol sits in fourth place alone after going 73-71 in the opening 36 holes to sit at even par. The defending champion of the event had three birdies in each round Monday, including birdieing No. 15 both times through the course.

As a team, the Nighthawks sat in fifth place after an opening round 306 before bouncing back in the second round, firing a 5-over 293 to climb into third place. The +5 score is good for third all-time for an 18-hole round.

Lee leads the tournament at 12-over, followed by Flagler 10 shots back. After UNG comes West Georgia and UNC Pembroke to round out the top five teams.

The final round starts at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning with all golfers teeing off in 10-minute intervals off No. 1. North Georgia will be in the final groups beginning at 9:40 a.m.
