Hall County authorities look for man who robbed Verizon store in South Hall area

By B.J. Williams

Nobody was injured, but two employees of the Verizon Wireless store in the South Hall area were robbed at gunpoint earlier this week.

Derreck Booth, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said the hold-up happened Wednesday, Jan. 15 around 8:10 p.m. at the business on Lanier Islands Parkway.

"According to early details, the robber approached a female employee near the back door of the business and forced her inside at gunpoint," Booth said in an email statement. "After getting the merchandise he demanded from a male employee, the suspect told the two victims to lie on the bathroom floor while he escaped."

Booth estimated the value of the stolen merchandise at "several thousand dollars."

He described the suspect as a black man who was wearing a black shirt, black jacket, jeans and white shoes.

"He had a towel-like cloth over the bottom of his face and was wearing a hood," Booth said.

The suspect left the scene in a brown 2008 to 2013 Cadillac CTS.

Booth asked anyone with information on the suspect to call Hall County Sheriff's Office Investigator Grindle at 770-533-7687.
