Boys basketball: NHall rallies to beat Bluff; Banks wins big over Union; LCA, Johnson fall

FLOWERY BRANCH — North Hall outscored Cherokee Bluff 14-4 in the final quarter to walk away with a 57-55 key Region 7-3A road win over Cherokee Bluff on Tuesday.

Clark Howell led the Trojans (12-6, 4-2 Region 7-3A) with 23 points -- 9 in the fourth quarter -- while Cole Ellis chipped in 13.

The win puts the Trojans one game out of second place in the region. 

North Hall trailed most of the game with the Bears taking an 11-point lead, 38-28, in the locker room at the break. 

In the second half, the Trojans cut the lead, 51-43, at the end of the third quarter.

The Trojans will play East Hall at home on Friday. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

Cherokee Bluff (10-8, 3-3 Region 7-3A) will travel to Lumpkin on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.


WALNUT GROVE 56,    
JOHNSON 37  

The Knights fell to sixth-ranked Walnut Grove Tuesday on the road.

Wade Pearce and Buddha Johnson scored 9 points each to lead the Knights (3-13, 0-3 Region 8-5A)

The road doesn't get any easier for the Knights as they play host to No. 4 Cedar Shoals on Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Trevin Last scored 13 points and Bo Souther had 12 points in LCA's loss to Young American Christian School at home on Tuesday.


BANKS COUNTY 79,    
UNION COUNTY 44

The Leopards used a 54-point first half to cruise to the win over Union County at home on Tuesday. 

Banks County (15-2, 6-0 Region 8-2A) had four players in double digits with Carl Cleveland leading the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Clay Gosnell and Pierce Martin added 12 points each and Sawyer Pace had 10. 

The Leopards will travel to Social Circle on Friday. Game time is 8:30 p.m

Union County (7-8, 2-3 Region 8-2A) will play Oglethorpe at home on Friday. Tip is 8:30 p.m.
