Girls basketball: Gainesville gets key win; Dawson rolls against EHall; NHall edges Bluff; Lakeview, Rabun, LCA win

WINDER — Sadie Roach and Lauren Teasley helped Gainesville get back on track with a 66-52 Region 8-6A win over Apalachee on the road Tuesday night.

Roach scored a game-high 23 points and Teasley added 17. The Red Elephants (7-9, 2-1 Region 8-6A) have won four games out of their last five and are second in the region after the win.

Gainesville started slow, trailing 26-28 at the half but exploded in the second half. The Red Elephants outpaced the Wildcats 40-22 in the second half to walk away winners.

The Red Elephants will play Winder-Barrow at home on Friday. Tip is set for 7 p.m.


DAWSON COUNTY 63,
EAST HALL 40

The No. 8 Tigers wasted no time jumping on East Hall Tuesday night, taking a 42-19 advantage en route to the blowout win over the Vikings at the Ford Phillips Center in Dawsonville.

Marlie Townley led the Tigers (11-6, 5-1 Region 7-3A) with 18 points while Maddie Anglin and Mariah Benson added 10 each. Kirklyn Porter and Sophia D'Oliveira both had 9 points.

The Tigers will travel to No. 4-ranked Fannin County. Game time is set for 7 p.m.

East Hall (5-10, 2-3 Region 7-3A) will travel to North Hall on Friday. Tip is 6 p.m.


NORTH HALL 48,
CHEROKEE BLUFF 40

Rylee McCall scored 17 points and Lauren Swanson had 15 to lead the Trojans past Cherokee Bluff on the road Tuesday night.

It was close at the half with North Hall (12-5, 3-2 Region 7-3A) holding on to a 24-20 lead, but the Trojans outscored the Bears 19-10 in the third quarter to take a 43-30 advantage.

Timber Gaither led the Bears (3-14, 0-5 Region 7-3A) with 9 points. Madi Phillips and Finley Millwood had 8 points each.

North Hall will play East Hall at home on Friday. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

Bluff travels to Lumpkin County. Tip is 6 p.m.


LAKEVIEW 54,
TALLULAH FALLS 46

Eliza Snyder scored a game-high 27 points, pulled 14 rebounds and had four takeaways in the win over Tallulah Falls on the road Tuesday night. 

Tallulah Falls closed the gap to five points at the end of the third quarter but the Lions pushed it back up in the fourth to seal the win. 

Joelle Synder scored 15 points in the win.

Lakeview (12-5, 2-0 Region 8-A) will play Commerce at home on Friday. Game time is 6 p.m.


RABUN COUNTY 62,
SOCIAL CIRCLE 15

Laken Stiles scored 13 points and had 5 steals to lead the Wildcats to their 16th straight win on Tuesday against Social Circle.

Gracie Deetz chipped in 12 points and 7 steals for the Wildcats (16-0, 6-0 Region 8-2A)

Rabun will travel to Putnam County on Friday.


LANIER CHRISTIAN 56,
YACS 24

The Lightning rushed out to a 33-11 halftime lead and never looked back in a blowout win over Young Americans Christian School on Tuesday at home.

Faith Wasden the LCA with 17 points while Madison Hughes scored 12 points and Reece Montgomery hit for 10 points.
