Boys basketball: Gainesville rallies past Dacula; White beats NHall; Banks wins big

DACULA — After starting the season 0-10, Gainesville won its fifth straight game on Saturday night with a 57-51 come-from-behind win over Dacula on the road.

The Red Elephants led after the first quarter but Dacula went on a 15-4 run in the second quarter to take a 28-27 lead at the half.

But in the second half, the Red Elephants turned up the pressure which led to a 46-37 lead after the third quarter.

Gainesville had three players in double digits with Donsha Gaither leading the way with 11 points. Both Dee Buffington and Eli Pitts poured in 10 points each. Robert Reisman chipped in 9.


WHITE COUNTY 55,
NORTH HALL 51

Jaden Yeh scored 21 points and Silas Mulligan had 17 to lead the Warriors (7-9, 1-4 Region 7-4A) past North Hall at home on Saturday.

Clark Howell scored a game-high 23 points, and Ty Smith had 9 points to lead the Trojans (11-6, 3-2 Region 7-3A)

North Hall travels to Cherokee Bluff on Tuesday. Tip is set for 6 p.m.

White County will play Flowery Branch at home on Tuesday. Game time is set for 6 p.m.


BANKS COUNTY 87,
OGLETHORPE 56

Carl Cleveland scored 37 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the Leopards rout of Oglethorpe Saturday night on the road.

Cleveland was one of four Leopards in double figures on Saturday. 

Clay Gosnell scored 16 points; Dakota Orr had 12 points and Garrett Pressley chipped in 11 points. 

The Leopards had the game in hand by halftime, leading 47-28 and pushed the lead 69-41 at the end of the third quarter. 

The Leopards (13-2, 4-0 Region 8-2A) will play Union County at home on Tuesday. Tip is 6 p.m.
