Girls basketball: Chestatee beats Bluff; Rabun, Lakeview, Buford win; Gainesville and East Hall lose

GAINESVILLE — Maggie McNair scored 18 and Emma Easterwood had 13 to lead the Chestatee girls basketball team past Cherokee Bluff, 54-37, Saturday night at home.

Bowen Corly poured in 8 points while Logan Wiggins had 7 and Lexi Strickland chipped in 6 points. 

The War Eagles (9-8, 3-3 Region 7-4A) will travel to Denmark on Jan. 10. Game time is set for 7 p.m.


STEPHENS COUNTY 54,
EAST HALL 39

Callie Dale led the Vikings with 14 points in the road loss to Stephens County on Saturday.

Audrey Griffin and Maleah Harrison both scored 8.

East Hall (5-10, 2-3 Region 7-3A) will play at Dawson County on Tuesday. Game time is set for 6 p.m.

 


DACULA 76,
GAINESVILLE 46

The No. 7-ranked Falcons were too tough to handle for the Gainesville Red Elephants in the blowout loss Saturday night at Dacula. 

The Falcons jumped out quick in the first quarter and pushed the lead to 20 points, 44-24, by halftime. 

Lauren Teasley and Zaria Williams scored 11 points each to lead the Red Elephants. Sadie Roach netted 7 points. 

Gainesville (6-9, 1-1 Region 8-6A) will travel to Apalachee on Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.


RABUN COUNTY 72,
MONTICELLO 23

Sophie Woodard scored 15 points and Loren Stiles had 13 in the Wildcats win over Monticello on Saturday.

The Wildcats (14-0, 4-0 Region 8-2A) will host Social Circle on Tuesday. Tip is 6 p.m.


LAKEVIEW 63,
GEORGE WALTON 24

Joelle Synder 13 points to the Lions in the blowout Region 8-A win over George Walton on Saturday at home. 

Eliza Synder turned in the double-double performance with 11 points and a season-high 14 rebounds and Maddie Towles scored 12 points, while Jackie Allen posted 9 points and dished out six assists. Ellie Kate Madonna also scored 9 points.

The Lions held George Walton scoreless in the first quarter while taking an 18-0 lead and extending that lead to 20 points at the half, 33-13. Lakeview continued its pressure in the second half, taking a 55-19 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Lakeview (11-5, 1-0 Region 8-A) will play host to Tallulah Falls on Tuesday at 6 p.m. 


BUFORD 81,
JOHNSON 23

Ashyia Willis scored 15 points to lead the Wolves past Johnson on Saturday at Buford Arena.

The Wolves (14-0, 2-0 Region 8-5A) had 14 players score in the win over the Knights.

Buford will travel to Cedar Shoals on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Johnson (1-12, 0-2 Region 8-5A) will travel to Walnut Grove on Tuesday. Tip is 6 p.m.
