GAINESVILLE — After falling behind 3-1 in the third inning, the North Hall softball team outscored Chestatee 8-0 to knock off the War Eagles, 9-3, Wednesday afternoon at home.
The Trojans (4-14, 1-7) exploded for five runs in the fourth inning with Rylee McCall, Hannah Payne and Kristen Dowdy driving in a run.
Dowdy got the rally going with a single that scored a run, Payne's single drove in two runs and Dowdy doubled to bring two Trojans home in the inning.
In the fifth, Sam Rooker blasted a two-run home run over the left-field wall to extend the lead, 8-3. The Trojans added one more run in the
Dowdy also earned the win in the circle, allowing two hits, three runs and striking out three over three innings of work. Kendal Clackum tossed four innings in relief.
Chestatee did all of its scoring in the third quarter with Katie Palmieri and Kaitlyn Babb drove in a run each. The War Eagles also scored a run off an error in the inning.
