Softball: Branch stays atop 8-4A; North Hall gets 7-3A win

DANIELSVILLE — Flowery Branch stayed atop the Region 8-4A standings after rallying for a 6-2 victory over Madison County on Thursday.

After a shaky first inning, Nikki Harris settled down to get the win in the circle going the distance allowing just two runs on eight hits while fanning 11.

The Red Raiders opened the game with a pair of runs in the first but Flowery Branch got a run back in the third. Mak Davis provided the big blow with a 3-run home run in the fifth to give the Lady Falcons the lead. Davis finished the game with 4 RBIs.

Savanna Rutledge had two hits and 2 RBIs for the Lady Falcons. Aubrey Bourrie, Kate Stage, and Amanda LeBlanc all had two hts for Flowery Branch.

The Lady Falcons next will play host to East Hall on Monday in another key Region 8-4A battle.


NORTH HALL 8,
DAWSON COUNTY 7

Bre Stowers singled on the first pitch she saw in the bottom of the seventh to lift North Hall to a dramatic win over Dawson County on Thursday in Region 7-3A action.

The hit capped a huge 5-run seventh inning for the Lady Trojans, who scored seven runs in their final two at-bats to erase a 7-1 deficit.

The Lady Tigers started quick scoring three runs in the first. After North Hall plated a run in the third, Dawson County scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to build the big lead.

Stowers also got the win for North Hall surrendering seven runs on nine hits over seven innings, striking out two and walking zero.

The Lady Trojans piled up 11 hits in the game with  Ashley Callahan, Stowers, Kristen Dowdy, and Macy Slater all collecting multiple hits.

Dawson County had nine hits for the game.

North Hall next will play host to Lumpkin County on Monday.
