COMMERCE - Athens Christian scored first but it didn’t matter.
The Tigers (2-0) rushed passed Athens Christian, 49-7, Friday night at Tiger Stadium to pick up their second win of the season.
Nate Ray passed for two touchdowns and Sam Roach rushed for two scores to lead the Tigers.
After Athens Christian’s Jonas Davis scooped up a Tiger fumble and rushed for 53 yards for pay dirt, the Tigers reeled off 49 unanswered points, 42 in the first half.
Toileon Brock tied the game up with 9:20 to go in the first quarter on a 12 yard TD run.
On the next series, the Tigers decided to try out their passing attack and had no issues. Ray nailed TJ Trudnak for a 42-yard TD pass late in the second quarter to put the Tigers ahead 14-7.
Ray finished the game 4-for-5 passing for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Roach scored twice in the second quarter on an 18-yard run and a three-yard run, and Josh Frates dashed for a score in the second quarter
Ray connected with Jake Frates at the end of the first half, all part of a 28-point second quarter for the Tigers.
Dreylan Martin scored on a 25-yard run in the third quarter.
The Tigers will travel to Hart County on Friday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
