Volleyball: Branch splits with Lumpkin County, Chestatee

DAHLONEGA — The Flowery Branch girls volleyball team split a tri-match at Lumpkin County Tuesday night.

The Lady Falcons (11-10) fell to the host Lady Indians ina tight three-set match 12-25, 25-20, 15-9. Flowery Branch then rallied to beat Chestatee in another three-set match 23-25, 25-20, 15-11.

Senior outside hitter Katie Williams had 14 kills, 1.5 blocks, and 1 assist while senior middle blocker Sierra Lutz had 10 kills and 2 assists. Junior outside hitter Madi Sedwick added 5 kills, 2 aces, and 1 assist, and freshman setter Liza Thigpen tallied 28 assists, 3 aces, and 1 kill for Flowery Branch.

The Lady Falcons next will travel to Buford on Thursday for a tri-match with the Lady Wolves and Marist.

 

LADY RED ELEPHANTS GET SWEEP IN DAWSONVILLE

Gainesville traveled to Dawson County and got a pair victories against Gilmer and host Dawson County Tuesday night.

The Lady Red Elephants whipped Gilmer County 25-9, 25-16 in a sweep and then held off host Dawson County in back-and-forth three sets 26-24, 23-25, 15-8.

Witht ehw ins Gainesville improved to 13-2 on the season. The Lady Red Elephants next will play host to North Forsyth and Lakeview Academy on Thursday in a tri-match.
