Habersham officials conducting death investigation

By Rob Moore Reporter

Skeletal remains were discovered Thursday afternoon in a makeshift campsite off Ga. 105 outside Cornelia.

Skeletal remains were located at the site on Ga. 105 (Cannon Bridge Road) just north of Old Athens Highway, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.

“It appears that there are no immediate signs of foul play, although the investigation is still ongoing,” a social media post from the sheriff’s office reads.

The Habersham County Coroner’s Office and Georgia Bureau of Investigation are assisting.

“Our office only assisted with the scene,” said GBI Region 8 Special Agent in Charge Kim Williams.
