What's being billed as a "classic summer party" is planned next weekend to mark the opening of the new hospital in Dahlonega.

According to a posting on the Northeast Georgia Health System's Facebook page, the family-friendly event will take place Saturday, July 13, from 5:00-8:00 on Mountain Drive at the site of the old Chestatee Regional Hospital.

Festivities will include tours of the hospital, live music, corn hole, food, touch-a-truck, coloring stations, games and more.

Parking for the general public will be available at the University of North Georgia Convocation Center on Alumni Drive. Shuttles will provide transportation to and from the event.  Handicapped parking will be available on-site.

In February, Northeast Georgia Health System announced plans to offer hospital services at the former home of Chestatee Regional later this year and begin developing a new replacement hospital along Georgia 400.
