GBI announces arrest of Clayton woman for death of infant

A Clayton mother was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Wednesday, charged with the death of her 1-1/2-year-old child.

Jacklyn Frady, 26, was arrested Wednesday, June 26, and is charged with second-degree murder and cruelty to children after the infant was found unresponsive in the swimming pool after being left unsupervised, according to the GBI.

The child was transported from the Grapevine Lane home to a local hospital and later was pronounced dead.

The Rabun County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of GBI in the death investigation.

An autopsy performed Thursday at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office of the State Crime Lab in Decatur found the death was the result of drowning.

Once the investigation is concluded, the case will be provided to the Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
