Boys basketball: Howell leads Trojans past JHS; Banks, Dawson, Commerce, Chestatee win

GAINESVILLE — Clark Howell's hot hand lifted North Hall past Johnso, 59-45, on Tuesday at home.

Howell scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Trojans. Ty Smith chipped in 8 points. 

The first half was back-and-forth, with North Hall (7-3, 2-2 Region 7-3A) taking a 26-25 halftime advantage. The Trojans extended their lead to five points at the end of three, 41-36, but an 18-9 fourth quarter closed the door on the Knights. 

Jesse Harbin led the Knights (2-8) with 20 points. 


BANKS COUNTY 86,
MONTICELLO 68

Carl Cleveland had himself a night with 35 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the Leopards (8-0, 3-0 Region 8-2A) over Monticello on Tuesday in Homer. 

Pierce Martin added 20 points and Garrett Pressley netted 10 points in the win. 


DAWSON COUNTY 58,
LUMPKIN COUNTY 48

No. 4-ranked Dawson County (10-1, 4-0 Region 7-3A) had three players in double digits, including a double-double performance from Eli Burruss to edge Lumpkin County (4-8, 2-3 Region 7-3A) in Dahlonega on Tuesday.

Jasper Gibson led all scorers with 23 points, while Campbell Reed poured in 16 points, and Burruss pumped in 15 points and snagged 10 rebounds.

Jacob Cumbie led the Indians with 15 points and six boards, and Pat Jackson cashed 11 points and four rebounds.


COMMERCE 81, 
CROSS KEYS 22

The Tigers (5-3) continue on the upward trend with a blowout win over Cross Keys at home on Tuesday.

Creed Dunbar hit a game-high 22 points, while Dominic Ricci scored 16, Ian McConnell had 15 and Jackson Morris hit for 13.


CHESTATEE 63,
WHITE COUNTY 57

The War Eagles (6-6, 3-2 Region 7-4A) captured their third straight victory with a win over White County (6-6, 1-3 Region 7-4A) at home on Tuesday.

Brenton Nicholson scored 22 points and Kyle Bowmar had 12 in the War Eagles win.
