Girls basketball: Carrick picks up 800th win; EHall, Dawson, Chestate, Branch win

GAINESVILLE — Lakeview coach John Carrick earned his 800th career victory on Friday with a 51-40 win over Franklin, Tenn at home. 

Eliza Snyder posted a double-double performance with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while her sister, Joelle Snyder hit for 14 and Jackie Allen chipped in 11 points, dished out 6 assists and 4 steals. Maddy Towles added 6 points and 4 boards.

The Lions improve to 6-4 and will play host to Rabun Gap on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.


EAST HALL 60,
JOHNSON 38

Callie Dale scored 15 points and Alexis Burce had 13 in the Vikings big win over Johnson in Oakwood on Friday.

Audrey Griffin and Aaliyah Ellison netted 7 points each.

East Hall (3-4, 2-1 Region 7-3A) welcomes Stephens County to Valhalla on Saturday. Game time is set for 5 p.m. Johnson (1-7, 0-0 Region 8-5A) will play at West Hall in the Lanierland tournament play-in game. Tipoff is 4 p.m.


DAWSON COUNTY 57,
NORTH HALL 54

The Tigers held off a fierce North Hall rally to pick up the win in Dawsonville on Friday.

It was a typical Region 7-3A meeting between the two foes with the Tigers roaring to a 25-13 lead after the opening quarter. But the Trojans fired back in the second quarter, cutting the lead 36-28 by the break. 

In the second half, North Hall outpaced the Tigers 11-9 in the third quarter and took the lead late in the fourth quarter. The Tigers, however, hit some key late foul shots to push them past the Trojans.

The Tigers (6-4, 2-1 Region 7-3A) had four players in double digits with Kirklyn Porter and Marlie Townley leading the way with 14 points each. Townley also pulled down her 500th career rebound. Mariah Benson added 12 points and Sophia D'Oliveria had 10. 

Dawson County will play White County in the North Georgia High School Showcase at home. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m.

North Hall (5-4, 2-2 Region 7-3A) will travel to Johnson on Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m.


ST. PIUS X 61,
GAINESVILLE 48

Sadie Roach scored 11 points to lead the Red Elephants in the loss to St. Pius X Friday on the road. 

Gainesville trailed by two points, 14-12, after the opening period but fell behind 32-22 by the half. In the second half, Gainesville scored 7 points in the third quarter, going down 45-29 but finished the fourth strong, outscoring St. Pius X 19-6. 

The Red Elephants will play Booker T. Washington at 2 p.m. in the North Georgia Showcase at Dawson County. 


CHESTATEE 62,
WEST HALL 27

Maggie McNair scored 18 points and Emma Easterwood had 17 in the War Eagles win over West Hall on Friday. Logan Wiggins chipped in 11 points.

Chestatee (4-4, 2-2 Region 7-4A) will play host to White County on Tuesday at 6 p.m.


FLOWERY BRANCH 61,
DENMARK 43

Ashlee Locke scored a game-high 30 points and pulled 16 rebounds in the Falcons blowout win against Denmark on Friday.

The Falcons led 30-18 at the half and extended the lead 44-25 at the end of the third quarter.

Shaina Kriews added 9 points, and Alana Veiga had 8.  

Flowery Branch will play host to Marist on Tuesday. Tipoff is 6 p.m.
