Boys basketball: Nicholson leads CHS to win; Riverside beats WHall; NHall, Lumpkin, Banks win

GAINESVILLE — Brent Nicholson exploded for 25 points in Chestatee's 64-38 win over Flowery Branch at home on Friday. 

Jonah Bull netted 14 points, and Anakin Rowland had 10 points. 

The War Eagles (3-5, 1-1 Region 7-4A) ravaged the Falcons (1-8, 0-3 Region 7-4A) on the offensive end and smothered them on the defense, holding them to 14 combined points in the second and third quarters. 

Trevor Gurske scored 10 points to lead the scoring for the Falcons. 

Flowery Branch travels to Dawson County today. Game time is 1:30 p.m.


RIVERSIDE 69,
WEST HALL 49

It was a close game until the third quarter. 

Riverside (3-4, 0-0 Region 8-A) outscored 19-4 to extend its lead, 58-38, and stroll to the non-region win over West Hall (3-1, 1-0 Region 7-4A) on the road Friday night. 

Shad Dabney led the Eagles with 16 points. 


NORTH HALL 44,
FANNIN COUNTY 32

The Trojans beat Fannin County for their fifth win in a row at home on Friday. 

North Hall (6-1, 2-0 Region 7-3A) led from the tip, taking a 23-15 at the half and up 32-24 after the third quarter. 

Luke Gunter scored 13 points and Brock Cooper had 12 for the Trojans. 

Cohutta Hyde scored 11 points for the Rebels.

The Trojans will play host to GAC on Tuesday. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.


LUMPKIN COUNTY 67,
EAST HALL 64

Patrick Jackson scored 28 points and Jacob Cumbie had 17 to lead the Indians past East Hall in Rabbittown on Friday. 

Cumbie added 10 rebounds to complete the double-double performance. 

Peyton Polk pulled down 10 boards and 9 points. 

The Indians (3-6, 1-1 Region 7-3A) led 31-36 at the break and upped it 54-43 by the end of the third. The Vikings (1-4, 0-2 Region 7-3A) made a big run in the fourth quarter, but the Indians were able to hold off the charge to get the key region win. 

DJ Gray led the Vikings with 14 points, and Christian Torres had 13. 


BANKS COUNTY 62,
STEPHENS COUNTY 45

Carl Cleveland poured in 37 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in the Leopards non-region win over Stephens County in Toccoa.

Sawyer Pace added 8 points, and Pierce Martin had 7 points. 

The Leopards (5-0, 0-0 Region 8-2A) will open region play when they play host to Putnam County on Friday, Dec. 13. Game time is 7 p.m.
