By AccessWDUN Staff
As promised, the Gainesville Police Department has extra officers patrolling the Dawsonville Highway business corridor for the start of the shopping season, and they've already made one significant drug arrest.

Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said 21-year-old Joshua "Joshy" Chummar of Roswell was arrested on drug charges after he was pulled over for a traffic violation.

Holbrook said Chummar was arrested on Black Friday.

"The charges include possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of amphetamine sulphate, possession of THC, possession of marijuana (felony), possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug related items and speeding," Holbrook said in an email statement.

Police also seized nearly $5,000 in cash. Chummar remained in the Hall County Jail on Saturday.

The Gainesville Police Department said earlier in the week that additional officers would be stationed in busy shopping area for the shopping season, and the department said the Dawsonville Highway area is one area where there will be extra patrols. Officers will be working to make sure traffic is flowing along the busy corridor, and they will be watching for criminal activity in parking areas.
