Gaining the Edge: Volle helps North Hall in win over Dawson County

By Bo Wilson Sports Editor

GAINESVILLE — Luke Volle was a big part of North Hall's 40-37 win over Dawson County on Friday at Lynn Cottrell Stadium at the Brickyard.

Volle's receiving stats were pretty good for a Wing-T running team. He hauled in 89 yards and a touchdown but even bigger, the senior two-way player also snagged a Holtzclaw pass and returned it 47 yards for a score, and a leaping 27-yard catch to bring his team out of the end zone in the second half.

"We knew some people had to step up," Volle said. "I trusted in Trey (Sanders). I told him if you throw it, I'll come down with it. I'm just glad we could show that connection on Friday. For sure some people stepped up on offense and defense."

North Hall coach Dave Bishop said Volle's play was crucial in the Trojans' win on Friday.

"We had a kid go out and he's kind of the heart soul of our team both offensively and defensively, Dalton Battle," North Hall coach Dave Bishop said. "We told the kids that you're going to have to step up and make plays that you haven't made all year and Luke was that guy. He made three of our four plays on offense and the Pick 6 on defense. So it's hard to not make a big deal about what he did on Friday."
