2019-20 Boys Basketball preview: A new direction for area programs create a lot of question marks

By AccessWDUN Staff

The 2019-20 boys basketball season is one that begins with a lot of unknowns. In total, eight new coaches will roam the sidelines which means new philosophies and new offensive and defensive systems will change the landscape of those programs.

Of those eight programs, two were intriguing hires simply because of the situations.

East Hall opened the history books and pulled former coach Seth Vining out of retirement to take charge of a program that he manned for 14 seasons (1990-2004). And Dawson County, a program left with most of last year's talent returning, saw Chad Pittman walk away and former North Forsyth girls coach, Eric Herrick, hired to take the controls.

Last season, nine northeast Georgia teams advanced to the postseason with two making it to the second round, one to the quarterfinals, one to the semifinals and one -- Buford -- winning the Class 5A state title.

So, needless to say, this season, which starts today, has several questions: Will Gainesville make a run in Class 6A with new faces? Can Buford, with a young roster, reload and repeat? Will Dawson County go deeper under a new direction? Can Jefferson bottle all of its talents and sell it in Macon? Will Banks County finally put it all together and compete for the Class 2A crown? It's WWVD at Valhalla? And, which team or teams will shock the area?

It's sure to make for an interesting 2019-20 campaign throughout the area.

We offer you below our 2019-20 season preview of every team in our coverage area.*

BANKS COUNTY LEOPARDS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Mike Cleveland, 9th season
-- REGION: 8-2A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 19-10, Region 8-2A runner-up, first-round Class 2A tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 4
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. F Carl Cleveland (6-6, 28.1 ppg, 11.4 rpg, 4 apg, Region 8-2A Player of the Year, GACA Class 2A All-State), Jr. G/P Pierce Martin (6-2, 11.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.2 apg, Region 8-2A First Team All-Region), Jr. G Clay Gosnell (5-9, 6.2 ppg. 2.6 rpg, 2.6 apg), Jr. P Dakota Orr (6-7, 5.5 ppg, 7.6 rpg, 1.9 blocks/game)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: The Leopards inexperience last season has turned into a strong point this season. Cleveland returns four starters, including Region 8-2A Player of the Year and leading scorer, Carl Cleveland. The Leopards will have plenty of size inside and steady guard play with Martin and Gosnell. They lost the region title last year to Elbert County and were four points away from beating Callaway in the first round of the Class 2A tournament. With the experience returning this season, the Leopards could flip the script and stroll to a region title and a deep run in the state tournament.

BUFORD WOLVES
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Eddie Martin, 5th season
-- REGION: 8-5A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: (29-2) Region 8-5A Champions / Class 5A Champions
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 1
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Caleb Williams (6-3), Sr. G Sebastian Augustave (5-9), Sr. F James Munlyn (6-11), So. G Caleb Blackwell (5-9), So. F Jaylon Taylor (6-5)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: After losing 11 seniors from last year’s state title team, the Wolves will have a brand new identity in 2019-20. Martin will ask Williams, Augustave and Munlyn to lead and carry the load early on as a majority of the team will be freshman and sophomores. How quickly the underclassmen can make the transition to the speed and strength of varsity basketball could determine how successful this year’s edition of the Wolves will be. If it does jell together quickly, the Wolves could be the talk of Class 5A again in March.

CHEROKEE BLUFF BEARS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Benjie Wood, 2nd season (15-11)
-- REGION: 7-3A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 15-11
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 5
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Griffin Neville (Young Harris-commit), Sr. P Rolando Razo, Sr. P Jason Evrett (leading rebounder in 2018-19), Sr. G Bosko Norman
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: The Bears had one of the best inaugural seasons ever but because of playing in the always-tough Region 7-3A they could not get out of the region tournament in 2018-19. Their second season should be just as good as they return all five starters and their entire roster. They have a dynamic guard combo in Griffin and Bosko and a year under their belt for a lot of guys who saw their first varsity action last season. They should be in the running again for a playoff spot by season’s end.

CHESTATEE WAR EAGLES
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Josh Travis, 1st season
-- REGION: 7-4A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 13-13
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Jonah Bull and Sr. G Brenton Nicholson
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Josh Travis was a late hire for the War Eagles when former coach Kevin Strickland decided to move closer to home in Monroe Area. Travis immediately went to work with summer camps and practice to hone the skills of a talented senior class that has seen steady improvement in the last three seasons. The War Eagles return a strong senior class led by senior guards Jonah Bull ( 7.5 ppg, 6.5 apg) and Benton Nicholson (12.6 ppg, 2.7 apg) Both guards played in the North Georgia Junior All-Star game last season. Travis hopes the senior class will continue the trending improvement in a very tough Region 7-4A.

COMMERCE TIGERS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Russ Gregg, 3rd season
-- REGION: 8-A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 2-24
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Jr. SG Creed Dunbar (6-3, 11.0 ppg 35% from 3-point, Region 8-A honorable mention), Jr. C Ian McConnell (6-4, 9 ppg, 5 rpg), Jr. PG Tyelon Brock.
SEASON OUTLOOK: The Tigers are in Year 3 of the program rebuild under Russ Gregg. The Tigers struggled last year, only winning two games, but Gregg felt they were “much more competitive.” With success on the middle and JV levels, Gregg expects his underclassmen and junior class to turn things around. Three-year starter shooting guard, Creed Dunbar will be expected to be the leader on the team as well as junior post player, Ian McConnell. Junior point guard Tyelon Brock is back this season after missing the majority of last season with an injury. He won’t join the team until football season is over for Commerce.

DAWSON COUNTY TIGERS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Eric Herrick, 1st season, 16th overall.
-- REGION: 7-3A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 27-5, Region 7-3A Champions, Class 3A semifinals
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Jasper Gibson (19 ppg, 4 rpg, 4 ast, Region 7-3A All-Region and Class 3A All-State, Sr. G Campbell Reed (11 ppg,  3 rpg, Region 7-3A All-Region), Sr. P Eli Burruss (8 ppg, 5 rpg), Jr. P Mason Barnes
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Dawson County pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat when they snagged Eric Herrick from North Forsyth to lead its boys' basketball program. Herrick was doing very quite well guiding the North Forsyth girls in Class 7A, but the North Hall grad wanted to go back to coaching boys, and Dawson County was just a hop, skip and jump up GA 9. He's stepping into a pretty good situation as the Tigers return a strong core of players from last year's Class 3A semifinal team, including top scorer Jasper Gibson. Along with Gibson, Campbell Reed, Mason Barnes and Tate Atkins return and as Herrick says, "have the ability to put up a lot of points." But the length of the season will come down to defense and rebounding. If the Tigers bring it all together this season, another semifinal run is not out of question.

EAST HALL VIKINGS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Seth Vining, 1st season (15th overall, coached EH boys from 1990-2004)
-- REGION: 7-3A
-- RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 13-16, first-round Class 3A tournament, Lanierland runner-up.
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. P Malachi Vance, Sr. P Tre Newsome, Sr. G TJ Campbell, Sr. SF Aaron Thomas, Jr PG Imre Earls, Jr. W Zion Cheeks, Jr. W Deondre Langston, So PG Clete Cooper, So. SF Christian Torres, Fr. SG Angel Villirreal
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: After one season with Seth Thompson at the helm, East Hall’s principal Jeff Cooper decided to go in a different direction and lured legendary East Hall coach, Seth Vining, out of retirement to take over the program for a second time. Vining coached the Vikings from 1990-2004. Thompson stayed on as Vining’s top assistant. The Vikings return Earls, Thomas and Campbell from last season’s underachieving team to lead the way in 2019. Vining will implement his patented pressure run-and-jump defense and up-tempo offense -- the same style of play Vining’s former teams were known for years ago.

FLOWERY BRANCH FALCONS
COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Jay Burney, 1st season
REGION: 7-4A
2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1-25
RETURNING STARTERS: 2
KEY PLAYERS: Jr. G Trevor Gurske (5"11), So. G Trey Shaw (5"11), Sr. P Judson Burney (6-4), Sr. C Ashton Brick (6-5).
SEASON OUTLOOK: Jay Burney takes over a program that has not always struggled. The Falcons are only one year removed from a second-round playoff run. But last season under Chezley Watson, the Falcons lagged behind with only one win. The late take over by Burney has left him somewhat behind, according to him. He didn’t get as much time as he wanted but says the team will be ready. His son, Judson Burney and Ashton Brick, both transfers from Huntsville, Ala., will add some much-needed help inside and Trevor Gurskey and Trey Shaw return to man the perimeter. Burney has recruited the halls at the Branch and uncovered some hidden talent but says bringing the new and the old together will be a process. If it all comes together by region time, the Falcons could make some noise in the region.

GAINESVILLE RED ELEPHANTS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Chuck Graham, 2nd season
-- REGION: 8-6A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 20-10, Lanierland champions, quarterfinals Class 6A tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 2
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Lavoy Hill (6-0), Sr. G Dee Buffington (6-0), Sr. G/F Walt Dixon (6-3), Jr. G/F Robert Reisman (6-2), Jr. G/F Eli Pitts (6-3)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: The Red Elephants avenged their 2018 state title loss to Hughes last season in the first round of the state playoffs. The win catapulted Gainesville to the quarterfinals and was just seven points shy of a semifinal berth. And this year, Graham is excited about what's returning for Big Red. He's got two starters back with plenty of talent to step up and fill the gaps. Graham says it's their turn to play a major role. He also says if the new batch of players accept the role, handle adversity and play within themselves, they have a shot a returning to the state playoffs.

HABERSHAM CENTRAL RAIDERS
COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Cody Anderson, 1st season
REGION: 8-6A
2018-2019 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 3-21
RETURNING STARTERS: 3
KEY PLAYERS: So. PG Malachi Dooley (5-11 All-Region honorable mention), Sr. W/F Micah Ward (6-3, 7.4 ppg), Jr. G Joshua Pickett (6-1m 8.1 ppg), Sr. F Grayson Adams (6-5, 10.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg)
SEASON OUTLOOK: New coach and Habersham graduate, Cody Anderson, hopes to bring some stability a Raiders' program that is on their fourth coach in as many seasons. Anderson says the program returns a good core group of seniors. And with that, he's focused on installing a stingy half-court defense and a "modernized Princeton offensive system. The new offense will focus on spacing, ball and player movement and taking care of the basketball. Anderson said his returning nucleus of players along with some new additions are working hard to lay the foundation of a new identity for Raider basketball.

JACKSON COUNTY PANTHERS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Ty Baumgardner, 1st season
-- REGION: 8-3A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 12-16
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 2
-- KEY PLAYERS: Jr. G/P Kalib Clinton ( 6-5, 23.2 ppg, 3.4 apg, 5.1 rpg; 1st Team All-Region, All-State 2nd Team), Jr. SG Kedric Zimmer (5-10, 11.0 ppg, All-Region Honorable Mention), So. G/P Bryce Blake (6-5)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Baumgardner will bring a new culture to the Jackson County program as he takes over a young and relatively inexperienced team. However, last season’s leading scorer and second-team Class 3A All-State player, Kalib Clinton, is expected to build on last year’s performance. The Panthers might struggle early on with Baumgardner’s new system with a new philosophy and terminology, but they’ll use the early part of the schedule to work things out. Clinton and Kedric Zimmer will be relied upon heavily to provide leadership and experience. Clinton is a Division I prospect who has already received an early scholarship offer from Charleston Southern University.

JEFFERSON DRAGONS
-- COACH: Kevin Morris, 3rd season
-- REGION: 8-3A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 17-1, Region 8-3A runner-up, first-round Class 3A tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 5
-- KEY PLAYERS: F Jacob Radaker (6-9, 215 lbs, All-Region selection), Sr. SG/F Owen Parker (6-2), Sr. SG/F Daniel Parker (6-2), Jr. G Kam Robinson (5-7), So. G/F Malaki Starks (6-3)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Coming off a pretty good regular season outcome in one of the toughest regions in the state, the Dragons finished as the No. 2 team out of Region 8-3A. This year, Morris hopes his team, that returns all five starters, will make a charge at the region title and a deep run in the Class 3A state tournament. He’ll count on a strong senior class that returns balanced guard play and a great inside presence with Navy-commit, Radaker. The Dragons will utilize an uptempo-style of play and an unselfish attitude on the hardwood.

JOHNSON KNIGHTS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Chris Guthrie, 1st season
-- REGION: 8-5A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 8-18
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. PG/SG Jesse Harbin (6-0, 10.9 ppg), Sr. G/P Caleb Jackson (6-2, 4.4 ppg), Sr. PG/SG Da’mondre Johnson (5-10), Sr. F Deshaun Young (6-5). Jr. SG Wade Pearce (6-3, 7.8 ppg)
-- OUTLOOK: New coach Chris Guthrie is no stranger to Hall County, having spent the last couple seasons at Chestatee as an assistant coach. He also served as head coach of the Lumpkin County boys program prior to his time at Chestatee. He took charge of the Knights in July and even though time has not been on his side, Guthrie said he expects his team to make a statement early on. They’ll use the non-region schedule to build confidence to prepare them for one of the toughest region slates in the state and will rely on the senior leadership of Harbin and Johnson to keep them steady as they implement a new system on the fly.

LAKEVIEW ACADEMY LIONS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Todd Cottrel, 7th season
-- REGION: 8-A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 20-9, Region 8-A Champions, second-round Class A-private tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS:
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Holden Cooper, Sr. F Sam Stewart, Jr. G Declan Weidner, Jr. G Conley Millwood, So. G Harrison Cooper
-- OUTLOOK: The Lions only return one starter, Holden Cooper, from last year’s region championship and Class A second-round team. Cottrell will lean on Cooper as a leader and also will count on Sam Stewart as well. Overall, the Lions will be young and somewhat inexperienced and will have to adjust quickly. Cottrell believes this team will improve throughout the season which will help in a tough Region 8-A.

LANIER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY LIGHTNING
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: David Roberts, 12th season
-- REGION: GAPPS 2-2A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 20-10, Region runner-up, state runner-up
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 1
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. PF Thomas Avery (6-2), Jr. SF Trevin Last (6-4)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: After falling just short of a state championship last year, the Lightning are hungry to get back to the title game in a different association, GAPPS. They graduated seven players, including leading scorer, Tommy Wandrum, who’s playing at the next level this season. Roberts will ask Avery and Last to lead a group of young players this season.

LUMPKIN COUNTY INDIANS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Jeff Steele, 5th season
-- REGION: 7-3A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 10-17, first-round Class 3A tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS:
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. F Peyton Polk (8 ppg 5 rpg), Sr. G Patrick Jackson (16 ppg, 4 rpg), Jr. PG Gus Faulkner (6 ppg, 6 rpg), Sr. G Jacob Cumbie (6 ppg, 4 rpg)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: The Indians return four of their five starters from last year's state playoff team, including leading scorer Patrick Johnson, and Steele believes his team can be "very competitive this year." They'll use the early season schedule to work out any kinks in the lineup before the Region 7-3A gauntlet fully begins. Steele says they'll have to become mentally tough and play together and, if that happens, the Indians should be able to compete and win on any given night.

NORTH HALL TROJANS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Tyler Sanders, 7th season
-- REGION: 7-3A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 11-15
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. P Luke Gunter (9 ppg, 9 rrp), Sr. G Ty Smith, Sr. P Luke Volle, Sr. G JT Fair
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: As usual for Sanders and his program, he’ll have to wait for football season to end to have his entire roster available. Then, he’ll have to get those that play football into basketball shape. They return experience in Gunter, Smith, Volle and Fair, but all five play football. The Trojans' non-region schedule should help build depth as he awaits the football player's return and prepares for a tough Region 7-3A slate. The Trojans will continue the high-level defense and an up-tempo offense.

RABUN COUNTY WILDCATS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: David Adcock, 2nd season
-- REGION: 8-2A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 6-22, first-round Class 2A state tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 1
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. Jon Sego, Sr. Sam Adams, Sr. Phillip Roberson, Sr. Jesus Olvera, Sr. Junior Sutton, So. Gus Hood, So. Grayson Carver, So. Gavin Page, So. Connor McKay, So. Bear Old
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Adcock enters his second year in control of the Wildcats with a sophomore class (Gus Hood, Grayson Carver, Gavin Page, Connor McKay, and Bear Old) loaded with talent and 14 players that will make an impact this season. He says the underclassmen will be expected to "do the bulk of the scoring." He also has a pretty solid senior class of leaders, which the sophomores will look to -- Jon Sego, Sam Adams, Phillip Roberson, Jesus Olvera and Junior Sutton Jones -- for leadership, according to Adcock. If the Wildcats can overcome an undersized youthful roster early on, they could be dancing in March.

RIVERSIDE MILITARY EAGLES
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Marvin Latham, 5th season
-- REGION: 8-A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 22-6, Region 8-A runner-up, Class A-Private quarterfinals
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 2
-- KEY PLAYERS: Jr. G Shad Dabney (6-0,  18.0 ppg, 6 apg, 2 spg, Region 8-A All-Region first team, Class A All-State honorable mention),  Sr. G Areeb Ahmad (6-0,  9.0 ppg, 3 apg, 1.0 spg), Jr. P Andreil Clark (6-4,  5.0 ppg,  4 rpg), Sr. P Bryce Klacynski  (6-5)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Lathem says for the first time since he's been at RMA, he has some height in the lineup. They welcome back Clark and newcomer Klacynski to man the paint this season. Along with the post duo, dynamic guard, Dabney is back for his junior season. Lathem says his leadership and athleticism is going to determine how well the Eagles do once Region 8-A play rolls around. The Eagles will use the early part of the schedule to jell the new parts together. Lathem also said developing a bench is going to be a top priority if this year's edition of the Eagles is going to reach its full potential.

TOWNS COUNTY INDIANS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Robert Benson, 4th season
-- REGION: 8-A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS:12-14
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Jr. Kolby Moss (18 ppg), Jr. Aidan Berrong (9 ppg), So. Collin Crowder (8 ppg, 7 rpg).
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Benson returns three starters from last year’s team, including leading score Kolby Moss. The Indians will look to improve on last season’s 12 wins with a solid group returning. Benson says the team chemistry is improving every day and expects to compete for a Class A state playoff berth.

UNION COUNTY PANTHERS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL: Corey Garrett, 1st season.
-- REGION: 8-2A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 17-11, first-round Class 2A tournament.
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 3
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. G Pierson Allison (16.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.3 spg; All-Region first team), Sr. G Sawyer Drake )14.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.8 apg, 2.5 spg; All-Region first team)
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Garrett stepped over to the boys' program after guiding the Lady Panthers for the last two seasons and not a bad decision. He takes over a senior-laden team that has plenty of talent to build on last season’s success. He’ll expect Allison and Drake to lead the way, as soon as football is over, and mentor a young group of sophomores. Garrett believes this group of Panthers is poised to make some noise in the region and state this season.

WEST HALL SPARTANS
-- COACH, YEARS AT SCHOOL:  Bobby Pless, 4th season
-- REGION: 7-4A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 9-20, second-round Class 4A tournament
-- RETURNING STARTERS: 1
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. SG Sawyer Passmore (11.9 ppg), Sr. G Colton Smith, Jr. SF Quincy Holcomb, Sr. W Canaan Koger,  Jr. G Braden Simms, Jr. G Josh White
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: The Spartans only return one starter with Passmore, but Pless is optimistic about the rise of seniors Smith, Koger and juniors Holcomb, Simms and White. He says there will be a lot of new faces that will get game time pretty quick. He also says this team has the potential to develop more depth with talented younger players. But to do that, the Spartans will have to improve their rebounding margins, transitions points and assist to turnover ratio. He's also counting on juniors Sterling Morales and Chase Reed and sophomore Bryce Pressley to earn playing time. If the Spartans can find the right balance, they could be the team no one wants to play when Region 7-4A play rolls around.

WHITE COUNTY WARRIORS
-- COACH/YEARS AT SCHOOL: Wade Mawdesley, 2nd season
-- REGION: 7-4A
-- 2018-19 RECORD/ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 8-18
-- KEY PLAYERS: Sr. PF Will Sampson (5.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg), Jr. SG Cooper Turner (4.0 ppg, 3.5 rpg), So. G Silas Mulligan (3.0 ppg), Jr. PG Reece Dockery
-- SEASON OUTLOOK: Though losing a large amount of scoring from the 2018-19 season, the Warriors return an experienced group that includes a solid freshmen class that should bolster an already strong returning core. Mawdesley enters his second season in charge in Cleveland and his players have a strong grasp of his in-your-face defense. Mawdesley says his group has improved tremendously on the offensive end and has been working to improve from 3-point land and in transition.

--We  Key: Sr: senior, Jr: junior, So: sophomore, Fr: freshman, PG: point guard, G: guard, SG: shooting guard, W: wing, F: forward, PF: power forward, SF: small forward, P: post, C: center, PPG: points per game, RPG: rebounds per game, APG: assists per game, SPG: steals per game, FT: free throws.
