HOMER — The Class 2A No. 1-ranked Banks County girls softball team cooked up an impressive two-game sweep of Bacon County Tuesday in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
The wins moved the Lady Leopards (28-3) into the Elite 8 in Columbus next week. It was their 11th straight win.
Game 1, 8-0, 5 innings
Tybee Denton pitched a perfect game and fanned 11 to lead Banks County to the win.
Denton also belted a pair of home runs. Banks County pounde dout 10 hits in the five innings.
Game 2, 6-0, 7 innings
Denton again dominated in the circle tossing a 1-hitter over the Lady Raiders. She struck out 12 in the second game.
Madi Cronic had two hits, including a fourth inning home run. Kya Santiago smacked a seventh inning home.
The Lady Leopards will await their first opponent in next week's Elite 8 round, which begins on Thursday at the Olympic Softball Complex.
