Volleyball: Region matches heat up around area

The Cherokee Bluff girls volleyball team split a pair of Region 7-3A matches on Tuesday.

The Lady Bears rallied from a set down to beat Dawson County 2-1 but then fell to Lumpkin County in a sweep.

Against Dawson County, the Lady Bears lost the opening set 25-21 but took a thrilling 29-27 win in set two and completed the comeback with a 15-9 win in the deciding third set. The fell 25-20 and 25-21 to the Lady Indians in the second match.

On the day for Cherokee Bluff, Finley Millwood provided 10 kills and 8 digs and Tristan Boling had 5 kills and 17 digs to lead the way. Madi Phillips had 17 kills and
3 blocks.

Laura Ross had 5 kills and 5 digs, Camille Godfrey has 14 digs, Jaydn Jarrard had 16 digs, and Brandyn Peterson added 6 kills, 1 block, and 2 digs for the Lady Bears. Abby Mcclendon added 3 digs and Abi Whitaker 3 kills for Cherokee Bluff.

 

WEST HALL SPLITS WITH CHESTATEE, DENMARK IN 7-4A

West Hall also rallied from an early deficit to beat Chestatee (22-25, 25-17, 15-8) but lost to Denmark (25-22, 23-25, 10-15) in three-sets in Region 7-4A action.

Cadie Shirley had 19 kills, 26 digs, and 4 aces for the Lady Spartans. Kinsey Wilson added 17 kills and 18 digs for West Hall.

The Lady Spartans next will play host to Stephens County on Thursday on Senior Night.
