HARTWELL — The Jefferson girls clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Region 8-3A tournament and an automatic berth in the Class 3A state tournament with a solid 66-57 win over Hart County Tuesday on the road.
It was the eighth straight win down the stretch for the No. 1-ranked Lady Dragons (21-2, 10-1 Region 8-3A) who climbed from third place over the final month of the season. The top two teams in Region 8-3A earn automatic spots in the state tournament.
Natalia Bolden paced Jefferson with 18 points. Livi Blackstock added 17 points and Allianne Clark 12 points for the Lady Dragons.
Jefferson will close out the regular season on Friday on the road against rival Jackson County.

Haven Rollins hit seven 3-pointers as part of a school-record 31 points to lead the Lady Eagles to the Region 8-3A win.
The win for East Jackson (8-16, 3-8 Region 8-3A) snapped a two-game losing streak. It was the sixth straight loss for Jackson County (5-19, 0-11).
