By Dean Dyer WRWH Radio

CLEVELAND – An Athens man faces several charges after a serious-injury wreck in White County Saturday night.

White County Sheriff’s Capt. Rick Kelley said deputies responded to a single-car crash at the intersection of Ga. 284 and Westmoreland Road, but the occupants of the vehicle had left the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival.

With help from witnesses, deputies located the occupants, including the driver, at a residence not far from the accident location, Kelley said.

When deputies located the occupants of the vehicle, they discovered that a female passenger had serious injuries as a result of the wreck, and she was transported by White County EMS to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with what Kelley said were non-life-threatening.

Joseph Robert Ingram, 34, who Kelley identified as the driver, was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, open container, improper tires, failure to maintain lane, failure to report an accident, too fast for conditions, and serious injury by vehicle.
