FLOWERY BRANCH – The game was close for three quarters.
In the fourth quarter, Dawson County threw some jet fuel on the fire, outscoring Cherokee Bluff 20-7 to snag the Region 7-3A win, 81-57.
Luke Chism was no match for the Bluff as he poured in a game-high 31 points. Jasper Gibson hit for 19 points.
The Tigers held on to a one-point lead, 22-21 after the first quarter. The Bears kept it close in the second quarter as well. Dawson led 45-39 at the half.
Meanwhile, the second half was a different story with Dawson extending its lead to 11 points by the end of 24 minutes, 61-50.
Chism and Gibson combined for 15 of the 20 points in the fourth. Tate Adkins, who finished with 7 points, nailed a 3-pointer, and Eli Burruss tossed in a bucket. Burruss ended the night with 7 points.
Bosko Norman led the Bears with 21 points and Landen Hubbard netted 9.
Cherokee Bluff (10-7, 2-3) will travel to North Hall Tuesday. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Dawson County will be on the road at East Hall. Tip is 7:30 p.m.

Noah Edmondson scored 16 points and Braden Martin had 14 in a loss to Marist at home Friday night.
