Hall tax bills to be mailed Friday

By AccessWDUN Staff

Property tax season is upon us, and the Hall County Tax Commissioner's Office is preparing to mail approximately 87,000 tax bills for real and personal property.   They are scheduled for mailing Friday, Sept. 14, and payments will be due Nov. 15.

For properties that changed ownership during the year, in general, whoever owns a property on Jan. 1 of each year is responsible for that year's property tax. If property is purchased/sold (changes ownership) after Jan. 1, it is the responsibility of the buyer and seller to negotiate or determine who will pay the owed tax by the due date. Please refer to the closing documents or the closing attorney to determine tax liability for the current year.

For properties that have a property tax escrow account associated with their mortgage, our office makes available the amounts due. Payments are accepted electronically and posted daily. It is ultimately the responsibility of the property owner to ensure tax is paid.

The tax commissioner website, hallcountytax.org, has more information on property tax payments on all parcels.

Questions should be directed to the tax commissioner's office which is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.   Phone 770-531-6950, fax to 770-531-7111 or email [email protected].
