Clerk pepper sprayed at Tanger Outlet Center in Commerce

The Jackson County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help finding the suspect who pullled off a bold daylight robbery at the Sunglass Hut at Tanger Outlets in Commerce.

Sheriff Janus Mangum said the man entered the store around 3:30 Monday afternoon and immediately pepper sprayed the clerk. She said he then left the store with about 16 pairs of high-end sunglasses.

Mangum said the man is in his mid 40s and appears to weigh between 275 and 300 lbs.

"He has a cross tattoo under his right eye and a clock tattoo on the left side of his neck," Mangum said.

After the suspect swiped the merchandise, he ran from the store.

"He fled the store on foot and nobody saw a vehicle," Mangum said.

The sheriff said investigators are looking to the public for information on the suspect. Anyone who has something to share can call the Jackson County Sheriff's Office at 706-367-8718 or 706-387-6043.
