East Hall High student advances in teen novel-writing contest

An East Hall High School freshman has been selected as one of 17 students nationally to participate in a teen writing pitch competition.

Bailey Maxwell-Williams entered the TeenPit contest by submitting a 50-word proposal for his sci-fi young adult novel.

Maxwell-Williams will now be paired with In The After young adult series author Demitria Lunetta for the Mentor Round of the contest. They will work together to develop his first chapter and submit it for the chance to enter the literary agent round of PitchWars, an adult contest that could lead to a published manuscript.

Maxwell-Williams was inspired to enter the contest during a breakout session on Twitter pitches for teen writers at TomeCon, the Tome Student Literacy Society annual student conference. He attended the conference on a school field trip last month.
