Planet Fitness employee accused of recording video of woman in gym tanning bed

By B.J. Williams

A Gainesville man who worked at Planet Fitness on John Morrow Parkway has been arrested on charges of invasion of privacy after he allegedly took cell phone video of a woman using a tanning bed at the business.

Gainesville Police Cpl. Drew Reed said the incident unfolded on Friday, March 29.

"The female victim went in to use a tanning bed and once she was in the room she noticed an object in the corner of the room that was facing the tanning bed," Reed said. "She was able to retrieve the item [a cell phone] and review the footage."

The woman was able to discern on the video an employee, identified as Camden Blake Eades, who had been in the room prior to her entry, setting up the video.

Reed said officers were called and once they arrived on the scene, Eades left the business through a back door. He remained on the run during the weekend, according to Reed, but turned himself in around 6 p.m. on Monday, April 2.

Reed said investigators have confiscated the phone as evidence in the case.

"A search warrant was obtained and we'll be going through the phone just to make sure there are no other victims, but as of right now, this is the only one that we know of," Reed said.

He said officers are asking other patrons of the business to come forward if they have information to share.

Reed said he thought Eades had only been working at Planet Fitness for a short time.
