No charges will be filed against the driver of a tractor trailer involved in a Friday morning accident with a pedestrian in Gainesville.
The driver, who is from Murrayville, was traveling in the outside southbound lane of Athens Highway (US 129) near Monroe Drive around 10 a.m. when a pedestrian walked into the side of the rig.
Gainesville Police Cpl. Jessica Van said the 65-year-old Flowery Branch man suffered broken bones and lacerations in the collision, but he is expected to survive his injuries. He was last reported in stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Van said investigators have not determined why the pedestrian walked into the truck.
Van said the investigation kept portions of Athens Highway closed for a couple of hours.

An investigation continues after a pedestrian was struck by a tractor trailer Friday morning on Athens Highway (US 129) near Monroe Drive in Gainesville.
The Gainesville Police Department reported the incident on social media around 10 a.m. Officers remained at the scene into the afternoon trying to determine what happened.
The pedestrian who was hit sustained serious injuries.
The names of those involved have not been released.
