COMMERCE — Both Lakeview Academy teams saw their runs in the Region 8-A tournament come to an end at the hands of Athens Academy Friday night in the semifinals.
The Lady Lions fell 38-28 while the Lakeview boys saw their 52-game region win streak snapped in a 44-40 loss to the Spartans.
For the boys, Blake McIntyre scored 18 points to lead Lakeview.
For the Lakeview girls, despite a 12 point, 12 rebound performance by Sadie Thrailkill it wasn't enough to overcome a 12-point second half.
Lakeview and the Lady Spartans were tied at 16 at the half.
Both Lakeview teams will now have to wait until next week when the Class A Private power rankings come out to see if they will be included in the 24-team fields for the state tournament.
