HARTWELL – Dawson County and Hart County went down to the wire in the McDonald’s Shootout championship Saturday night.
Hart County edged the Lady Tigers 64-62.
“What a game,” Dawson coach Steve Sweat said. “It was as good of a high school girls basketball game as you’re going to see. The only problem, we came up on the short end tonight.”
Clemson-commit Kaylee Sticker led the Lady Tigers with 24 points.
Dawson led after the first quarter 19-17, but Hart County rallied in the second to tie the game at the half.
In the second, Hart County outscored the Lady Tigers 16-15 in the third and 18-17 in the fourth to win by two.
Sophia D'Oliveira tossed in 13, Marlie Townley scored 12, Mariah Benson scored 5, Anna Lowe had 4, Maddie Anglin scored 3, and Bella Henson scored 1 point.
The Lady Tigers (10-5, 3-1) will play Pickens County on Jan. 3. Game time is 6 p.m.
Overall record is 10-5 and 3-1 in the Region.

The Lady Leopards strolled past Franklin County to win the Banks County Christmas Tournament Saturday night.
Heather Vaughan and Amber Williams scored 16 points each to lead Banks County to the title.
Kailynn Gilstrap scored 12 points and Jaycie Brown chipped in 9.

Brooke Henricks scored 30 points to lead Rabun County to the Franklin Holiday Tournament title Saturday night.
Sophie Woodard added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the win.
Rabun County (9-1, 3-0) will host Franklin, NC Jan. 2. Game time is 6:30 p.m.

The Lady Raiders fell to Powdersville in the third-place game in the Banks County Christmas Tournament Saturday night in Homer.
McKenzie Williams scored 21 points and Taylor Wade had 12 in the loss. Nikerriah Brown added 9 points.
Habersham Central (2-9) will host Gainesville Jan. 4. Game time is 7 p.m.
