GAINESVILLE — The Lakeview Academy boys used a big second half to pull away from Flowery Branch while Riverside Military Academy fell victim to a big second half by Denmark in a loss in the Lakeiew Invitational.
The host Lions (7-4) got a huge game from Adam Cottrell, who poured in 28 points, including hitting four 3-pointers, in a 69-49 win over the Falcons (1-9) at the Lakeview gym.
It was a tight game, however, in the first half as Lakeview led just 16-12 after the first quarter and 35-29 at halftime. But the Lions used an 18-7 third quarter to pull away in the second half.
Arturo Varela added 16 points and Blake McIntyre had 9 for the Lions.
Chandler Watson paced Flowery Branch with 14 points. Elijah Gainey added 10 points for the Falcons.

A slow start by the Eagles doomed them from the start. It was the fourth straight win for the Danes (10-3) over a Hall County team.
Denmark opened the game with a 25-15 first quarter. The Eagles (9-3) pulled within 43-35 by halftime and 58-51 heading into the fourth quarter. But the Danes outscored Riverside 18-11 in the final period to pull away.
Sutton Smith paced the Danes with a game-high 23 points. Adonnis Easton Tolbert added 16 points for Denmark.
Shad Dabney led Riverside with 18 points. Isaac Teasley added 14 points and Khalid Duke 9 points for the Eagles.
