It hasn't taken long for several northeast Georgia regions to already begin showing signs that things will be a dogfight down to the final regular season game.
Regions 7-3A, 8-3A, and 7-4A already are headlong into their schedules. Region 8-2A finally gets its region schedule going on Friday while Regions 8-6A, 8-5A, and 8-A won't get under way until after the Christmas break.
Region 7-3A will highlight a big night on Friday with Dawson County traveling North Hall headlining with two big matchups. The Lady Tigers (6-2, 2-0 Region 7-3A) are the only unbeaten team left in region play while the Lady Trojans (5-3, 2-1 Region 7-3A) are tied with Lumpkin County (9-1, 2-1 Region 7-3A) and Greater Atlanta Christian (5-5, 2-1 Region 7-3A) for second. GAC, meanwhile, travels to Lumpkin County on Friday.
For the boys, East Hall (6-3, 3-0 Region 7-3A) and GAC (6-3, 3-0 Region 7-3A) sit atop the standings with Dawson County (6-2, 1-1 Region 7-3A) in third.
Region 7-4A also has some huge matchups on tap Friday with Flowery Branch playing host to Denmark and West Hall traveling to Chestatee. Blessed Trinity and Marist both are undefeated and atop the standings on the boys side while Flowery Branch (6-1, 3-0 Region 7-4A) is the only undefeated team left on the girls side.
Region 8-2A will open with a bang on Friday with Banks County traveling to Putnam County, Union County heading to Elbert County, and Rabun County playing host to Oglethorpe County. But the big early-season matchup, especialy on the girls side, will happen on Saturday when Banks County plays host to Rabun County in Homer.
